Ryszard Minkiewicz - he has graduated Faculty of Composition and Theory of Music in Music Academy in Gdańsk. In 1989 he finished with honorable the second major Faculty of Vocal and Acting in the same Academy. He studied solo singing in professor P. Kusiewicz's class.
Ryszard Minkiewicz won a special prize on Third A. Sari Vocal Competition in Nowy Sącz - for contemporary lyric songs. In 1992 he received an third prize (the first one hasn't been given) on 38th International Singing Contest in Toulouse. He also received French Theatre Director Syndicate prize.
He co-operates with many operas and music theatres, to mention: Great Theater National Opera Warsaw, Great Opera Theatre Poznań, Opera Theatre Cracow, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Baltic Opera Gdańsk, and Opera "Nova" Bydgoszcz. He has in his repertoire parts composed by G. Rossini (Almaviva - "Il Barbiere di Seviglia", Don Ramiro - "La Cenerentola"), W. A. Mozart (Don Ottavio - "Don Giovanni"), G. Donizetti (Ernesto - "Don Pasquale"), G. Verdi (Casio - "Otello"), K. Szymanowski (Shephard - "King Roger"), J. Strauss (Eisenstein - "Zemsta Nietoperza") and even L. Bernstein (Tony - "West Side Story").
Ryszard Minkiewicz is a very well known by the festivals' audience artist. (Music Festivals in: Tallin, Moscow, Paris, "Gaude Mater" Częstochowa, "Wratislavia Cantans", Warsaw Autumn, Praska Wiosna, BBC Proms, Salzburgerfestspiele, Festival de Musica Canarias - Las Palmas and many other. He gave concerts in such a famous concert halls like: Royal Albert Hall - London, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées - Paris, Felsenreitschule -Salzburg, Konzerthaus Wien, Bolshoy Theater Moscow, Théâtre Musical de Paris - Châtelet, NHK Hall - Tokyo and Berlin Philharmonic. He is constantly co-operating with almost all polish philharmonics and symphonic orchestras: Polish National Philharmonic Orchestra Warsaw, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Katowice, Orchestre National de France - Paris, CBSO Orchestra - Birmingham, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Filharmonia in Bratyslawa.
He sang with many well known ensembles and conductors: sir Y. Menuhin, sir S. Rattle, Ch. Dutoit, M. Janowski, A. Wit, K. Kord, J. Kaspszyk, K. Stryja, St. Stuligrosz.
In summer 1998 Minkiewicz was invited by EMI to register a part of Shephard in K. Szymanowski's "King Roger". At the same time, there were concerts on the most important music festivals to promote the CD. The artist has many recordings made to transmit by Polish Radio as well as available on compact discs. He took a part in monographic recording of all Szymanowski's orchestras' compositions, singing a cycle of songs. He was invited by the British Television BBC to co-operate during the production of film based on life and creative activity of Karol Szymanowski. He took a part in live broadcast concerts for European Radio Union. This artist is specializing in Szymanowski and twentieth century composers' music (I. Stravinsky, B. Brittee, K. Penderecki, J. Tavever).
Currently Ryszard Minkiewicz is a professor at the University of Gdansk and the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, leading the solo singing class.
